Trio of Scouts to Return for 2012 Season

XENIA, OH – The 2011 Xenia Scouts Season was the organization’s greatest to date in terms of on field success. The Scouts amassed their first ever winning season at 23-19, and won their first Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Playoff game with a 10-0 shutout over the Hamilton Joes. With the 2012 season upon us, a few of those players from the 2011 season will be returning, hoping to build on their past success.

Taylor Kaprive – 3B – Palm Beach Atlantic University

Taylor will return for his second season with the Xenia Scouts and third with Athletes in Action Baseball. Kaprive also competed with AIA in 2010 in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. Last season Kaprive was a mainstay in the Scouts lineup where he batted .260 and finished third on the team with 24 RBI and led the team with 3 homeruns. Kaprive was named MVP of  the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League All Star Game which was played at Great American Ballpark, home of the Cincinnati Reds.

Jon Thacker – RHP – Sinclair CC

Jon will return for his second season hoping to build on a strong finish to last year out of the bullpen. After transferring from Wright State to Sinclair CC, who plays their home games at Grady’s Field, Jon is looking to push towards a starting role by getting comfortable in his second collegiate season.

Ben Christian – OF – Wayland Baptist College

Ben returns after a very solid 2011 summer in which he led the Scouts in games played. Ben finished second on the team in stolen bases, and was a mainstay in right field thanks to his solid defense and good arm.
