XENIA, Ohio – The Xenia Scouts (26-13) rode an outstanding performance from starter Jorge Lozano to a 2-1 victory over the Hamilton Joes (24-15) on Friday night at Grady’s Field.
The right-hander spun a complete game gem, allowing just one run and striking out eight in a key victory for the Scouts.
Xenia got their offense started with a run in the first inning that came across thanks to some hustle from Ryan O’Hearn. The centerfielder led off with a walk, stole second, moved to third on a sacrifice fly, and scored on a wild pitch, giving the Scouts a 1-0 lead.
Hamilton came back with their lone run in the fourth inning thanks to a Dane Tofteland home run, his sixth of the season.
With the game in the balance, the Scouts took the lead for good in the fifth inning when John Sharpe singled home Aaron Vallance to put Xenia ahead 2-1.
Xenia finishes the season with two games against the Licking County Settlers. The Scouts travel to Newark to take on the Settlers on Saturday, July 23 at 7:35 p.m.
