NEWARK, Ohio – It was a tough day for the Xenia Scouts, who entered Saturday needing just one win to clinch the South Division of the Great Lakes League, but couldn’t not pull through, dropping both games of the Saturday’s double header by a score of 9-2.
In the first game, which was a continuation of a July 4th contest, the Scouts began the game in the third inning trailing 5-0. After singles by Ryan O’Hearn and Cary Holloway, a single up the middle off the bat of Aaron Vallance brought two runs in.
Holloway shined at the plate, going 2-3 on the day. John Sharpe also took a 2-4 day at the plate.
Scouts starting pitcher Caleb Fernholz took the loss, his record moves to 2-4 on the season. The Scouts will be back in action Sunday at 4:05pm Grady’s Field for the season finale.
